Do I avoid the sun altogether or use sunless tan lotion?

Nowadays, there is a big controversy up in the air. It is about the sun, skin care, and skin cancer. Some people recommend you completely avoid sunlight and try to cover up every part of your body with sunless tan lotion. The truth is though that a tan is a natural form of protection your body uses to guard your skin from overexposure to the sun. Avoiding the sun altogether is not a good idea at all. According to the British Medical Journal, “Sun exposure is and has been a contributing factor in maintaining health. It is the main source of vitamin D, which reduces the risk of certain cancers. It also helps fight depression”

The key is balance. If you intend to spend a considerable amount of time in the sun, it is important that you take proper care to protect your skin and beauty. Carefully coat your skin with suntan lotion and perhaps even wear a hat to cover up your head. Let the tan come on slow and gradually. If you begin to feel a burning sensation on your skin, then it is probably time to go back inside. Overexposure to the sun is the worst thing you can do to combat wrinkles and scars from aging. It will merely make them worse.

If you are concerned with the mess that might arise from using to much lotion, consider using a roll on lotion! That’s right, just like roll on deodorant, except this is meant to help take care of your skin when you are tanning. This way, you won’t have to deal with greasy hands and the smell of lotion on everything that you touch! Either way, whether you use regular lotion or roll on lotion, just make sure for the sake of your skin care, that when you go out in the sun for an extended period of time, that you use tanning lotion to protect yourself.
