Using Direct-Mail to Attract Buyers

Even though most of us probably throw away junk mail, we usually at least take a moment to skim through the headlines and make sure we don’t miss anything important. It is during the skimming process that our attention is either attracted or not attracted. It provides a good opportunity to try to sell your property!

Start out by writing a detailed letter citing the benefits associated with your property. It should be written in a professional manner, but with a personal tone. You don’t want it sounding cliché and as if you are sending it to a multitude of people. You want to make it sound as if the person reading it is special. You need to answer questions such as why should people buy it? What is so special about it? Why should they trust you?

Next and most importantly, you need a catchy headline. Something that will spark people’s attention and convince them to open the envelope. You don’t want your letter ending up in the trash bin.

After that, do some formatting so that the letter appears in a multiple column format. In addition, add a picture of the home and make sure to end the letter with a signature. Now, you need to decide what you want to use to print your message. I recommend a postcard. If not that, then just print on a piece of paper and just make sure to decorate and headline your envelope.

After you have put together your mail, you need to decide what neighborhoods that you want to target. I suggest trying to reach 50 to 100 households if you only have one property to sell. If you have been selling for a long time, then you might even go so far to try to reach up to 10000 homes.

Even though writing up and sending direct mail can be rather time-consuming, it can help you build a strong base of customers. This will help you with your future investments because you will have plenty of people immediately interested in purchasing your property.
